I usually don’t write on Saturday. But today, I have an exciting update for you!
On the 24th, I wrote an email using the CrowdStrike IT outage as a hook. I think George (their CEO) got my message!
Because a new update came out that day…
CrowdStrike is finally apologizing!!
…by offering a $10 Uber Eat gift card.
In their own words:
“The company recognizes the additional work that the July 19 incident has caused.
And for that, we send our heartfelt thanks and apologies for the inconvenience…
…To express our gratitude, your next cup of coffee or late night snack is on us!”
Okay. Maybe it’s not due to my email. But regardless…
I think this is the dumbest way to apologize for a global outage.
It shows how little they care.
And you know what makes it worse?
Too many people clicked on the link, so Uber Eat marked it suspicious, and people couldn’t even claim the gift card.
LMAO
Now…
Even though this is THE dumbest way to say sorry…
It might actually be a brilliant way to boost CrowdStrike’s deliverability!
Hear me out:
Deliverability is mainly driven by one key factor –
Engagement.
In short, open rate, click-through rate, and replies.
Since CrowdStrike just paralyzed half the world… I bet his customers are sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for update announcements.
So, when they receive an email from CrowdStrike…
I guarantee you that EVERYONE will open the email ASAP.
✅Open Rate
Then, they see the joke.
$10 Uber Eat gift card?!
Seriously?!
It’s hard NOT to click on the link just to find out if it’s real.
✅Click Through Rate
I’m guessing…
When people found out they couldn’t even claim the gift card, there might be a few hundred !@%@&@% filthy replies.
✅Replies
CrowdStrike just boosted their deliverability by 10X.
LOL
Okay, kidding aside…
If you want to boost your deliverability without taking down 8.5 million computers… I can share a better strategy.
Reply with “INBOX,” and I’ll share the secret.
I won’t even ask for an Uber Eat gift card. 😉
Cheering for you,
Wuyen
