Yesterday, I saw a smart marketer critiquing some FB ads from a big name: “The copy on his ad is horrendous.”
And he’s right.
Massive brands ≠ Good marketing
Instead, most billion-dollar companies have lackluster creatives.
This is because when you’re “famous,” it’s infinitely easier to sell ANYTHING. (…and brands tend to get lazy at this point)
On top of the brand recognition, these companies have an ungodly budget.
They can put the “boring” marketing in front of you 20 times a day – using 13 different channels – without breaking the bank.
Frequency + Big Name = Sales
But if you’re not as “famous” yet… or you lack the budget to be omnipresent… and you duplicate their creatives/strategy – it’s destined to fail.
Strategy to brand fit matters.
So, if you run into a freelancer or agency who is way too eager to take your fee without trying to get to know you first (like offering an account audit)…
Be cautious.
Cheering for you,
Wuyen
