It’s 3 a.m.
“Ah…ah… ahhhh….”
I pull the blanket over my head, imagining a perfect world where playing an ostrich can solve the problem.
“Ba… Ba… BaBAAAA!”
*sigh*
I sit up, turn around, and look at the little one—who’s holding the rail and towering over the crib. The moment she catches my eyes…
She let out a big smile as if saying –
“LOOK AT ME. I CAN STAND… NOW, HUG ME.”
*second-sigh*
“What are you doing up at 3 am?”
(I don’t understand why a baby would get up at 3 a.m… to play for 2 hours even though she can barely keep her eyes open)
*Four hours later—with minimal sleep*
I beep open my office door and sit down to check my inbox.
– “5 hours left ”
– “Send joy with gift card”
– “Holiday sales last day”

Lesson?
You think you have a great offer.
You think you have a catchy subject line.
You think you have a strong urgency.
You think you have my full attention.
But in reality –
I’m only thinking about catching a quick nap before starting work.
Good try. Next time.

And somewhere on the other side of the planet –
A bawling business owner is complaining, “Email is dead. No one reads emails.”
Cheering for you,
