throwing a tantrum does not help you generate more sales

“Ba-ba-ba-ba”

I looked down at the little one who’s frantically waving her hands at the buffet table.

“You can’t ea…”

“Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba”

“You’re gonna have a stomach ache”

“BA-BA-BA-BA”

*sigh*

This was a common theme throughout the whole Okinawa vacation. The little one saw we’re eating something. She wanted her mommy’s food. (No, it’s not enough to be the “same” food. She wants THE ONE in Tracy’s plate.) After 10 minutes of yelling, fighting, fake crying…

We give in…

…and get ready to clean her 💩 15 minutes later.

Because even though we know the food might be too salty or oily for her little stomach… we cannot over-power her will to suicide her stomach. (Not without creating a tantrum in the public.)

This reminds me of how a lot of brands work.

~ The owner isn’t happy with the email marketing result

~ The owner hires a professional email marketer

~ The marketer makes a professional recommendation

~ The owner goes into a tantrum in the slack channel on how “unhappy” he is about the proposed strategy

~ The owner insists the marketer to follow his order and run thing his way

(the same way that generated bad results previously)

~ The owner’s strategy bombs

~ They owner blames the marketer for not doing a good enough job

Look. It’s okay wanting to run your marketing however you want it. But if you’re not happy with your previous results… and invested in professional talents… perhaps follow the professional’s advice and split test it?

Or at least own the 💩 results?
