Promo Calendar 101 – Part 3

I see this mistake a lot.

When business owners are planning their calendar, they look at it in a “linear” fashion.

~ What do I want to do in week 1

~ What do I want to do in week 2

…

..

.

This is a guaranteed way to mess up.

The right way to look at your promo calendar is like how an Asian eats buffets

You start with a quick scan.

What do we have today?

(Remember? Asking the right questions.)

Then…

You rush for the “stars.”

Sashimi

Crabs

Smoked salmon

Fried shrimp

Roast beef

The expensive stuff.

You tell yourself…

“I’m not here to eat. I’m here to make my money worth”

Only when you’ve stuffed down the “big guys” can you start “exploring” the non-essentials. Fried rice. Vege. Spring rolls. Soups.

The fillers.

Finally –

When you don’t have any room left in your stomach…

You top off the “cracks” with ice cream.

(because ice cream melts in your mouth and takes up literally zero space)

🤣🤣🤣

Now, I’m kidding…

(maybe)

You can eat your buffet however you want.

However, this is how you should plan your Promotional Calendar.

You start with the “big stuff.”

Product launch. Holiday promo.

The special events.

You only start filling in the “cracks” when you’ve secured the main promo.

To be continued…
