There’s a scene in “I, Robot” where the young detective (Will Smith) asked the VR version of Dr. Lanning (James Cromwell) for clues.
At first, the doctor kept replying:
“I’m sorry. My responses are limited. You must ask the right question.”
When a frustrated Will Smith finally burst out:
“Why would you kill yourself?”
The doctor smiled and replied:
“That Detective is the right question.”
This is a great scene because of how well it translates to marketing.
If you want to create a laidback promo calendar that can make it rain every month—without the whole team scrambling at the last minute…
You must start by asking the right questions
That’s why each month I would ask my clients…
Are we:
~ Having a sale?
~ Releasing a new product?
~ Releasing a new product line?
~ Discontinuing a product?
~ Re-releasing a discontinued product?
~ Raising the price? Lowering the price?
~ Highlighting any bestseller?
~ Celebrating any upcoming holidays, events, dates, and/or anniversaries?
~ Answering any important questions? (FAQs from customers)
~ Moving any old stock?
~ Running out of stock for any of our products?
~ Restocking soon for a product that’s high in demand?
~ Sharing any cool customer reviews or stories of us in the news?
~ Getting any cool user-generated content?
~ Creating any interesting case studies/customer stories?
These questions help you lay out the “big events” for the upcoming 1 to 3 months.
This way, you won’t be missing out on the “important” stuff.
To be continued…
