planning or procrastinating?

Earlier this week, I took my family to Alishan.

This was the first place my wife and I visited after we started dating 8 years ago… so we wanted to take our little one there, too.

I wasn’t sure what would happen.

The little one just turned 1…

…and we’ve never taken her on a road trip over 1-hr drive.

This time it was 4 hours.

My wife and I spent the whole time planning what might happen and our contingency plan. But when the time came…

I packed the car the day before…

Woke up at 6 am…

Fed, changed the diaper, and left at 8 am…

THEN

ZZZZ…

She slept for 3 HOURS all the way to the hillfoot.

Ate a quick lunch…

And slept another hour up the mountain.

😅

Two lessons here:

1) It’s good to plan ahead

You don’t know what might happen, but simulating the scenario helps you react when accidents happen.

2) But don’t use “planning” as an excuse to procrastinate

A lot of time…

Nothing will happen.

The worst thing that might happen is… often not a big deal.

I see this a lot in e-commerce.

They “rejected” the idea of email marketing using excuses like:

~ I don’t have time

~ I don’t want to annoy my subscribers

~ I’ll do it some other day

Yesterday, I checked one of my client’s accounts.

I’m pulling in 41.24% of their total revenue through email.

No, I do not take credit for all that revenue…

But this shows you how much you might be leaving on the table.

Talk soon,
