people hate to be sold? think again

The #1 reason brands don’t email more is they don’t know how.

The #2 reason brands don’t email more is they don’t have time.

The #3 reason brands don’t email more is they don’t want to be salesy. (“I don’t want to bother my subscribers with too many emails.”)

The first two objections are easy.

Find a professional and outsource the task.

(hint: you know where to find me)

The challenge is to overcome the third.

Before I do that, a quick story:

On Feb 7, 2016

The actual game doesn’t start until 3:30 pm.

But 112 million people sat in front of a TV—beer in hands, popcorn on tables, and buffalo wings in kitchens—an hour before the kick-off.

*silent*

…

…

*ROAMMM*

Six blue-and-yellow fighter jets soared over 70,000 audiences at the Santa Clara Levi’s Stadium—in their infamous Delta Formation—announcing the 2016 Super Bowl.

Exciting time.

But the interesting thing is…

When people crowded into the office the following day, the Blue Angels weren’t the star of the topic. Most people were talking about:

1) The half-time show starring Coldplay, Beyonce, plus Bruno Mars

AND

2) Honda’s singing sheep

People paid more attention to a bunch of dumb sheep than the $80k flyover?! (and most audiences have zero interest in buying a Honda)

That, my friend, is living proof that people love to be sold…

…as long as you make your “ads” interesting.

Same for email.

Make it fun, exciting, and insightful to read.

Then, you’ll suddenly realize:

People LOVE to be sold.

Talk soon,
