On priority

As an entrepreneur, priority is everything.

Life is busy. You’re wearing 14 hats—responsible owner, loving partner, caring parent, helping friend, decent human being, etc. At the same time, you’re putting out 39 fires—inventory mistakes, support tickets, logistic nightmares, account bans, partnership fallouts, etc.

But ultimately, your success is determined by…

…when the baby is crying

…when the wife is sick

…when the world is in chaos

And you have time for only ONE thing –

What do you prioritize?

A few years ago, I read Profit First by Mike Michalowicz. (highly recommended)

The author discussed the concept of always paying yourself first. It doesn’t matter how much or little you make. You take 1% (2%, 5%, 15%) and deposit it into a separate account for yourself.

It comes BEFORE any expense.

Because you are prioritizing the profit first.

Same for business.

For me, as a freelancer and one-person email agency, there are only three things that matter:

~ Attracting new prospects

~ Delivering quality work

~ Honing my skills

And yes, they come in that order.

It doesn’t matter if I’m 100% loaded with a waitlist…

I should always spend the first 90 minutes of my work day attracting new prospects into my world. (ask me how I learned this)

For you, as an e-commerce owner, it’s the same.

You either…

1) Spend the first 90-min of your day getting more (new or repeat) customers

OR

2) You invest in a system that does this for you

This mindset turns a complicated problem into two simple questions:

ONE

If you only have time to do ONE thing, what is the highest leverage?

TWO

Do you want to do this yourself or outsource it to a professional?

Cheering for you,
Wuyen
