It’s been a week after Black Friday, and most promos have ended.
But looking back…
There are a handful of offers that I’ll happily say –
“I’m glad I waited.”
Because:
~ the brand extended the deadline 2, 3, 5 times
~ the brand came out with an ever better deal for non-buyers
~ the brand ran another identical flash sale
Here’s the interesting thing:
I might still want/need that “product”…
But my desire to buy from this vendor is gone.
Therefore, the brand lost me as a potential customer—forever.
This got me thinking –
Shouldn’t I be “happy” to get a better deal? Shouldn’t I be glad I have more time to “think about it?”
But no.
Because I don’t trust the brand anymore.
Trust is everything in marketing.
Trust comes from doing what you promised.
Trust is hard to earn and easy to lose.
Do not give up the hard-earned relationships to gain a few quick sales.
It’s not worth it.
Cheering for you,
– WYH
