lesson learned from the copywriter vs. advertiser

Recently, I’ve been watching a fierce gladiator battle—where several affiliates compete in the same promotion.

One of the “duels” stood out…

copywriter vs. advertiser

One influential advertiser is fighting with arguably the best email copywriter in the world right now for the #1 position. The result? (as of Oct 19)

The copywriter is winning with a crushing lead.

As a copywriter myself…

You might expect me to claim, “this is the power of copywriting, yada yada…”

But the truth is –

The result has little to do with the actual Words.

~ Both affiliates have a strong following (not huge, but good relationships)

~ Both affiliates have a solid bonus

~ Both affiliates are sending traffic to a simple Gdoc sales page

The difference?

The advertiser sent 3 emails in 9 days—starting on Oct 11.

On the other hand…

The copywriter sent 19 emails in 4 days—starting on Oct 13 (plus a few more after he closed the cart).

Here’s what’s interesting:

Even though the advertiser made the first move…

I did not read that first email. Then, I bought from the copywriter BEFORE I even heard of the advertiser’s offer.

So… to those who say –

“I don’t want to email more because it will annoy people.”

You are leaving a lot on the table.

Because you’re EXPECTING that people care about you. You’re EXPECTING people to read every email. You’re EXPECTING people will be angry if you email more often.

It’s not true.

Frequency matters.

Life is busy. If you have a solid offer…

You are responsible for presenting your offer to your subscribers more often so they can benefit from your product.

Now, I would not recommend sending 19 emails in 4 days for every business. But most brands are sending far too little.

What if you send out more than once a week?

What if you send out emails that are entertaining to read?

What if you send out REAL emails, not some poster ads?

I guarantee—you’ll get better results.

Cheering for you,
Wuyen
