I heard:
F.o.r.e.p.l.a.y is more important than the main activity. Because it helps you connect… and build up the desire for the main course.
Huh?
What do you mean I’m getting banned?
Oh. You dirty mind.
I’m talking about enjoying a delicious meal.
The starter. The appetizer. The entrée.
(I know. Americans call the main course entrée… which is kinda weird. It literally means “the entrance”)
Your Prelaunch emails are like the appetizers.
Imagine you go to a fancy restaurant for an expensive tasting menu.
Dim light. Classy painting. Perfume in the ladies’ room. Cologne in the men’s room. The concierge greets you at the entrance… takes your coat, and leads you to the table.
THEN
The first course…
A hearty, cheesy lasagna—the size of a large pizza.
“That’s weird…” you mumble.
After you finally (barely) stuff the pizza-size lasagna down your throat…
The 2nd dish:
A crystal clear cup of… Tomato Consommé.
It’s supposed to be a bright delicacy… but you can’t taste a thing after the heavy lasagna. (not to mention you can’t stomach the steak, risotto, and tiramisu that follows)
So… you leave the restaurant disappointed with a 1-star review.
The appetizer makes or breaks the experience.
A good starter does not fill you up.
It enlightens your palate… cranks up your senses… builds desire… and leaves you a little MORE hungry than you arrived.
It paves the way for the main course.
To be continued…
