One frequently asked question about promotions is:
Should you write everything live… or should you draft everything in advance and preschedule the campaigns?
My answer is:
It depends…
…
…
BOOO
That is the worst answer 👎
Wait. I’m not done yet.
It depends… on if you’re writing for your own business or a client.
Scenario #1:
If you’re writing for your own business, it’s great to write everything on the fly.
This means you can pivot, adjust, and use the most timely story for your promo.
The worst case…
You get busy and miss one email.
Not good…
But at least you are responsible and you can’t blame someone else.
Scenario #2:
You’re writing for a client…
WRITE EVERYTHING IN ADVANCE.
(heck, write more than what you need for contingency)
BUT
You still need to be monitoring the whole campaign every day.
DO NOT upload and drop off the grid like Ghost Protocol.
What if…
~ The link fails
~ The customer support completely misunderstood the deadline
~ The client want to change the offer last minute
~ A certain angle/hook get rejected 23 minutes before going live
(Yes, I’ve experienced EVERY SINGLE ONE of these problems before. There are opportunities in every problem but you have to be ready to pivot)
So, if you still have to sit on the edge of your seat, monitoring the data…
Why bother writing in advance?
ONE
Because you want to get your client to ‘officially’ sign off the campaigns first
TWO
You don’t know what might happen in life
* What if your kid get hospitalized
* What if your father-in-law starts to experience vertigo
* What if you catch the flu and start burning at 40℃
Writing everything in advance allows you to upload the campaigns from the uncomfortable hospital chair at 1 am.
(ask me how I know…)
