In general, I do not like to run promo for more than 4 days.
Here’s why:
~ It’s tough to sustain the excitement
~ The deadline becomes irrelevant
(In most cases, it hurts your sales. Because… what’s the urgency for telling people they “only have 14 days” to decide?)
~ It’s challenging for the team
(Running a promotional event means all hands on deck. You cannot expect people to stay sharp and alert for more than a week)
BUT
I don’t always have full control.
If clients WANT to run a 12-day promo, they still have the final call.
In this case…
It’s crucial to find a way to sustain the excitement.
One great way is to gamify the promo.
If you have ever watched behind the scenes of large affiliate promotions, you’ll notice how the offer owner hosts the whole promo like a game.
Every day
He/She will update all the affiliates on the leaderboard.
Who’s winning… who’s catching up… who’s the MVP for the day…
Often, affiliates will do everything they can (including losing money on advertising) just to hit the leaderboard.
Now, back to your promo:
How can you turn the whole event into a show?
Entertain your prospects so they feel like entering a game… not a sale promo.
To be continued…
