How to go from zero to 13M

“E-MO-SHUN-AL-DAM-AGE!!”

A young Steven He yelled on the screen, wearing a blazer plus a bright orange shirt… acting as the traditional Asian parent.

Silly? Sure.

Exaggerate? Absolutely.

But when you look at the stats…

2M views with 13,638,126 subscribers

It’s hard not to ask:

How the F do you go from ZERO to 13M subscribers?

The other day, I came across an interesting interview with Steven He.

Here’s what I learned:

Lesson 1

1% Improvement.

You keep making videos—every single day—improving one aspect every time. Filmmaking. Jokes. Writing. Acting. Facial expression. Costume. Lighting. Background. Etc.

EVEN IF NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR WORK.

Yup…

Steven created 220 videos BEFORE anyone really cared.

He couldn’t even remember how many characters he tried… and tested.

Until…

Suddenly, the Asian Dad caught on and went viral.

💡💡💡

Then –

Steven doubled down and made a few dozen Asian Dad skits.

Lesson 2

…

..

.

*sigh*

Let’s stop this nonsense.

Because Lesson 2 is, you should not be writing emails like this.

Boring.

Repetitive.

(aka “educational” emails)

You want to know the real secret of Steven’s success?

Relentless Entertainment

Every video tells a story.

Every video entertains.

Because your subscribers… your prospects… your audience…

They are zombies drifting through life.

Your mission?

How can you become the ONLY thing they look forward to every day?

With your products.

With your emails.

Yank them out of boredom to give them something thrilling… something they can’t wait to see/read/experience the moment they open their eyes in the morning.

If you can do that, you’ve created a fan.

And the transaction will take care of itself because –

A fan will buy anything and everything you offer.

(This is how YouTubers move thousands of units with one video… by building a cult of millions of fans.)

To your success,
– WYH

P.S. – Another important warning…

When you’re in the process of building a fan base.

Follow the process, not the daily stats.

I see this mistake a lot. Business owners (or marketers) are obsessed with the performance of every single email.

A homerun?

“Let’s celebrate! We’re rich!!”

A dip?

“Oh, no! We’re doomed! We need to pivot all strategies starting yesterday.”

Calm down.

Success is always going to be a roller coaster.

Steven He famously went from 20 views to 2,000 views to 100k views… back to 2k views… making pennies in between.

You will NOT hit your goal in a linear journey.

But if you follow a proven process… stick with it… don’t give up… you will reach your goal.
