Yesterday, I shared the #1 lesson (the most important one) from my recent launch. Read that first for context.
Today, I want to share what I emailed throughout the promotion.
Most e-commerce companies treat their emails like flyers handed out on the street. Thinking of it…
Maybe this is what most e-commerce have in mind for email marketing.
“New restaurant right around the corner. Here’s our menu. Come check it out when you have a chance.”
*pick up the flyer out of courtesy*
*reply with a smile… and a nod*
*toss the flyer into the trash on the next crossroad*
Look, I’m not trying to be mean.
I’m busy and have no time for blatant ads.
Same for your prospects.
If you consistently send email ads, expect your prospects to react accordingly.
(ignore & delete)
That’s why I did something wildly different for my client:
I did not send a single image throughout the promotion.
Plain-text. Hyper-links. No buttons.
Every single email followed the same structure:
Story > Segue > CTA
(sprinkle hyperlinks throughout the body)
My goal was –
I want you to find my emails entertaining… and bring a smile to your face, even if you are not ready to buy.
Judging from my result
(again, check out my numbers from yesterday)
It worked well.
