[ET] 016: Another hospital lesson

I’m still writing this email in the uncomfortable hospital chair.

The good news?

The little one got a greenlight from the doctor today.

We should be leaving soon.

The bad news?

I’m catching up on clients’ projects.

So… a short one for today:

I noticed how nurses/doctors detach their emotions in the hospital.

They are on the front line of life and death.

They make tough calls every day.

That’s why they train themselves to look at the patient objectively.

(also why doctors avoid treating their own family)

Emotion?

Empathy?

It will destroy you in this environment.

Now… as a business owner, you should empathize with your prospects.

It’s a powerful weapon.

But at the same time…

Training yourself to take “your own emotion” out of the picture is helpful.

Do not fall in love with a message.

Do not fall in love with a hook.

Do not fall in love with what YOU think is important.

If the message does not make your best prospects raise their hand and buy…

It does not matter.
