[EPE 9 of 21] –  Welcome Flow (first impression matters)

Welcome flow is (typically) your highest revenue flow.

Because…

Most prospects will “optin” to see if there’s a discount code.

Therefore, welcome flow is your “most-seen” automation.

(remember, more people seeing = more sales, ALWAYS)

Now, this is NOT a bad thing.

Instead, this is a fantastic opportunity.

Because they are permitting you to market to them—over and over again until they unsubscribe—without spending another dime on ads.

More importantly…

This optin process (combined with your welcome flow) is your chance to create a solid first impression.

First impressions matter.

To give you a “non-marketing” example:

A friend of mine was searching for a wedding venue for June 2025.

Most people like to host their wedding at a hotel.

BUT

Most hotels charge $800 to $1,300 per table of ten—with a MINIMUM requirement of 15+ tables. That’s a hundred buckaroos per guest… costing almost two King Henry VIII Cuts at the House of Prime Rib.

But unlike House of Prime Rib…

You get mediocre food at hotel weddings.

(In my 37 years of experience, I had one “okay” meal at a hotel wedding)

So, why do most people pay so much for hotel weddings?

Because hotels give you a better first impression.

A luxurious entrance. Larger hallways. Fancy chandeliers.

Just like…

How people pay a fortune for designer haircuts…

Or how a good cover can generate 51% more interest for a book.

Don’t judge a book by its cover?

Stop lying to yourself.

E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E judges a book by its cover.

The same way your prospects judge your emails by your optin process.

From the optin form to the post-optin page, the confirmation email, the confirmation page, and the Welcome Flow.

All of these together create the first impression for your newsletter.

A good optin process creates raving fans who will read all your emails in the future. But a bad one repeals your best prospects, losing them forever.

 **Lesson for business owner**

Welcome Flow is a masterclass on its own.

I’ll share my test (& proven) outline tomorrow…

BUT

Here’s a challenge for you first –

~ For the next 15 minutes, forget you are a business owner

~ Pretend that you are a customer shopping

~ Take a tour of your website

~ Search around. Click here and there. Optin.

~ Then, ask yourself:

  • Was it fun, exciting, and memorable?

OR

  • Was it dull, clumsy, and maybe even broken?

~ Now, go through 3 top competitors’ websites and repeat the process

~ If there’s nothing “special” about your process… that helps you jump out the page like a sore thumb… you are in trouble. Because –

“In a crowded marketplace, fitting in is a failure. In a busy marketplace, not standing out is the same as being invisible.” – Seth Godin
