You’re hiking on a trail, suddenly…
You see a fork up front.
On the side of the road…
A dark, forbidden figure stands in the shadow, covered in a black coat.
“Adventure…” the figure opens his mouth.
You hurry past him, paying zero attention to what he’s trying to say.
COME ON
WHY WOULD YOU STOP AND TALK TO SUCH A SUSPICIOUS THINGY
WHAT IF HE IS LORD VOLDERMORT?!
*cough-cough*
A few minutes later…
You hit the fork.
In front of you is a mountain guide.
Clean. Professional. DEFINITELY HUMAN.
(and most importantly, have a ranger ID)
“G’day, mate. There are two ways to get where you’re goin’.
The 1st one’s a ripper—smooth as, real scenic, and looked after properly. Heaps of signs, and the map’s spot on. You’ll have a cruisy time, maybe pull over for a squiz at a nice view, and rock up at your destination just in time to catch the sunset. Bloody perfect, really.”
“How about the 2nd path?”
“… the 2nd path?”
(he hesitates for a few seconds too long)
“Honestly, I’ve got no clue why anyone would wanna go that way.
It’s rough as guts. Steep, sketchy, and I’m not even sure that bridge is still holdin’ up. Not a single sign to guide ya, and you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled for bloody mountain lions. Chances are you’ll end up banged up and late—if you even make it there at all.
Truth is…
The reason I’m standin’ here? It’s to stop folks from goin’ down that second track.”
“Cool. Sign me up for the 2nd.”
I hope you’re not this weirdo.
If you are, you probably want to unsubscribe from my list… because you have a death wish and you need medical help.
The funny thing is –
Most business owners are taking the 2nd path when it comes to email marketing.
They hate planning.
They keep the freelancer out of the promo discussion loop…
…but want to make changes 30 seconds before the campaign goes live.
THEN
They cry when they see a typo.
**Lesson for Business Owner**
Having a Promo Calendar does NOT take away your flexibility.
You are not married to that calendar.
Instead…
It gives you the power to plan, create, revise, and relax.
Give it a try.
Because you’ll be amazed by how less stressful it is to run your next BFCM.
And any professional—I mean real professional, not some clown who read 1 marketing book and wants to charge 5k for their first client—will happily help you adjust the plan on the fly if needed.
(but if you are constantly changing course last minute for no good reason, any real professional will also drop you like touching a sizzling hot cast iron pan)
To be continued…
