Oh wow!
We are at the last step.
Congratulations! 🥳
But before I share the last secret with you, a story:
A few years ago, I was a loyal Audible member.
14.95 a month. One audiobook of your choice. Loved it.
(btw – I enjoyed The Great Courses series)
However, several things happened…
Job got busy. Moved to a new city. 3 surgeries in one year.
So, I started falling behind with my Audible credits.
“Maybe I should postpone my membership for a few months…”
BUT
As I clicked cancel, a notification popped up:
[Do you want to cancel… or do you want to get a free month?]
“Oooo… kay, Why not?”
Then, it started.
The downward spiral.
I discovered that every time I told Audible I wanted to cancel, they would offer me something “special.”
Free month.
Free credits.
Discounted plan.
etc
Yes, it kept me “in my plan” for a few more months.
But the longer I stayed, the less I valued my membership.
Because the company continues to “reward my cancellation.”
It’s like training a dog… by giving it a treat every time it poops in your living room.
3 weeks later?
It will ONLY poop in your living room.
(and the owner is at fault)
The reason I’m sharing this story with you is that you have to be very cautious with this final strategy.
This is a double-edged sword.
The idea is simple:
When a subscriber is about to unsubscribe, customize the unsubscribe page to offer a discount, allowing you to grab one last sale.
**Lesson for business owner**
Some people call this strategy the “Unsubscribe Secret.”
I think it’s a bit needy.
“PLEASE DON’T GO… HERE’S A DISCOUNT… I NEED YOU… COME BACK”
🤣
Look.
If you sell premium products, do not use this strategy.
(It’s terrible for your positioning)
But if you’re selling commodities… with price as your advantage… then go for it.
To be continued…
