[EPE 14 of 21] –  Review Gathering Flow

E-commerce lives (and dies) with reviews.

Think back to the last time you went shopping online.

Amazon. Ebay. Alibaba.

(it doesn’t matter)

What was the FIRST thing you did after searching for the product?

You eye the review ratings.

4.8 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐  132,140 ratings

“Hmm, not bad,” you murmured to yourself, scrolling down to the Customer Reviews section and scanning the Top Reviews.

They look legit.

(not paid)

Then, you scrolled back up to check the price… and free shipping… before hitting the Add to Cart button.

This is a standard, modern-day shopping habit.

Even though we know some brands paid for their reviews…

Even though we know it’s easy to fake these reviews…

Even though we know that what a stranger living across the country thinks about a product has very little to do with how we will feel about it…

WE STILL CHECK THE REVIEW BEFORE BUYING.

This is why the Review Rathering Flow is so important.

**Lesson for business owner**

Here are a few tips for your Review Gathering Flow:

1 – Do NOT ask your customers to do you a favor

(they are busy. most people don’t care if it “means the world to you”)

2 – Offer something in exchange

(discount code. free gift. additional bonus. etc)

3 – Don’t ask for “reviews.” Ask people to share “their stories”

(leaving a review feels like a task. sharing a story sounds fun)

4 – Don’t wait 2 weeks before asking

(ask early. leave hints that “you’d love to hear their story” immediately after the transaction)

5 – Ask more than once

(again, people are busy)
