Recently, we’ve been doing some serious reno at my father-in-law’s place.
Knocking out both bathrooms. Tearing everything. Applying new waterproof. Laying new tiles. Installing new fixtures. And even adding a new pressure pump.
Now…
Imagine if the contractor started the job… without examining the field.
“Oops, this door doesn’t fit.”
“Huh? I thought the water pipe was on THIS side?”
“Ouch. I realize we need to cut a hole in the wall to fit the sink.”
That would be a total nightmare, right?
That’s why –
Any professional contractor will know the importance of exploring and prospecting before quoting a project.
(actually, when I was still working as an engineer, I’ve heard of contractors who intentionally do a ‘bad job’ during prospecting so that they can send you as many change orders as possible)
Same for email marketing.
The first thing I do BEFORE taking on any client is a full audit.
I want to know…
~ what’s working
~ what’s not working
~ how are we inboxing right now
~ what flows do we have… and what’s missing
etc
Without an audit, I’m running blind.
Lesson for you:
If you’re speaking with an email marketer about their service and they provide a quote before auditing your account… RUN.
To be continued…
