I was a mechanical engineer before transitioning into an email marketer.
As an engineer, I learned how little impact one person can have.
To build a skyscraper, you need…
~ a team of architects (often multiple teams)
~ a team of every type of engineer (mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, etc)
~ a team of specialists to render the model
Sure, you have one chief architect who gets to slap his name on the building…
But in reality, the building results from hundreds of brilliant minds PLUS tens of thousands of workers.
I find it silly how email marketers like to take credit for everything.
“BRO! I’ve made 100M through my emails.”
No, you haven’t.
You sent emails to bring more eyeballs to the offer.
BUT
Someone else built the brand.
Someone else produced the product.
Someone else designed the website.
Someone else fulfilled the order.
Someone else delivered the package.
Sure, email marketing is essential.
You can take “some” credit—about 5 to 9%.
(This is only if you are a full stack email marketer, handling all the strategy + deliverability + list management. If you only write words in a Gdoc, maybe 3%?)
But stop taking credit for the whole success.
Talk soon,

PS – The reason I wrote this email is because…
1) I’m tired of seeing all the email marketers claiming they made hundreds of millions when the majority has nothing to do with them
2) I’m all about telling you the truth
Yes, I’m an email marketer, too.
It can be convenient for me to make the same claim.
But I won’t.
Because that’s not the truth.
