Today, let’s kick off the week with a question I get a lot…
…
..
.
Oops… I almost went full-blown guru mode. LOL
Nobody is asking me this question, but I’m seeing this problem all the time when I audit email accounts:
The number of e-commerces letting their email list collect dust is mind-blowing. (91.55% of online stores are advertising… but only ~64% are using email marketing)
This makes no sense.
Businesses are spending a small fortune building these lists.
Businesses are complaining about the rising ad costs.
Businesses are suffering from thin margins.
YET –
They’re letting the most valuable asset sit there, go cold, and gather dust.
It’s like buying a rental property and abandoning it.
Now, I get it.
You may not be an email marketing geek like me. This means if you haven’t invested in email marketing yet, it’s probably because:
1) You don’t have time/bandwidth.
2) You don’t know how to email without annoying your list
3) You’re overwhelmed by all the “email marketing education” online
(or maybe all of the above)
So, here’s my advice:
Keep it simple.
The more time I spend working with 7 and 8-figure e-commerces, the more I realize – simplicity beats everything.
Your mind will always want to complicate things, but ultimately…
The simpler, the better.
It’s a lot like cooking. There are endless recipes but only a handful of critical skills. It’s not about learning more…
It’s about mastering a few.
For email marketing, start with this:
Send 3 simple story-powered email campaigns a week.
That’s it.
You don’t need 39 different segments.
You don’t need 19 different types of emails.
You don’t need Figma.
Stick to the basics because simplicity always wins.
Cheering for you,
Wuyen
