My little one entered a new phase:
“You must not do what I do not want you to do to a tee, or I scream” phase.
She will reach out her arms and say:
“Ba-ba-ba”
(translate: daddy)
“Bao-bao-bao”
(translate: pick me up)
BUT
When I picked her up… facing the wrong direction that she wanted…
She’ll yank backward, trying to break her neck, and…
“AHHHHHH”
But you can’t drop her back down…
Because that’s not what she wanted either.
“Ba-ba-ba”
“Bao-bao-bao-BAO”
“AHHHHHH”
Now, repeat this for 10 times—in 15 minutes.
🫠
I think Montessori Education calls this “Sensitive Period of Order.” I call it, “This is how you behave when you’ve never been smacked.”
But this does remind me of the behaviors of some business owners.
“I don’t know how to do email marketing.”
(“Ba-ba-ba”)
“I need your expertise.”
(“bao-bao-bao”)
You come in with a proven plan, getting ready to implement…
(pick her up)
Then…
“No, I don’t want you to do this. I want you to do it my way.”
(“AHHHHHH”)
Look, it’s your business. You are in charge. You make the final call.
But…
Why would you hire a professional when you are not ready to take advice?
I get it.
It’s scary dipping your toes into unknown territory. But isn’t that how you started this business in the first place?
Taking risks. Pushing the boundaries. Exploring the unknown.
So… what changed?
Talk soon,
