Yesterday, I mentioned watching the new Netflix series Chef’s Table: Legends. I’m about 3 minutes into the show…
(hey, stop judging. 3 minutes is all you have when there’s a needy 13M old around)
I remember watching Jamie Oliver saying:
~ how the education system failed him
~ how he hated “words”
~ how he resents school
This stands true for many people.
That’s why there is this rule of thumb in direct-response copywriting:
“Do not use the word ‘learn’ in your copy.”
Here’s the problem with writing a book:
Book = Education (❌) in Words (❌) so you can Learn (❌)
3 strikes. I’m out.
But at the same time, a book can open up so many opportunities:
~ Authority ✅
~ Lead magnet ✅
~ Referral mechanism ✅
The million-dollar question is:
How can I write a book that does not feel like traditional education but STILL positions me as an authority to the RIGHT audience?

PS – I told you many times…
To me, writing is thinking.
I’m pulling back the curtain—revealing my thinking—so you can follow along on this adventure.
