“One of our groups with 100,000 members was shut down.”
“We’ve just lost a Men’s mental health group with over 9,000 men who use the group daily to get through their daily battles. Gone.”
“So… Meta disabled my Facebook group which has around 847k members and without any prior notification. It took me 3 years to build that community which is gone in a minute!”
This has been happening a lot in the last few weeks.
Years of work.
Hundreds of thousands of prospects.
Thousands of paying customers.
*pooof*
Gone in seconds.
No notification.
No “reason.”
No support.
Across all industries.
🤢
According to Meta, it was a little “hiccup.”
(aka “technical error”)
But from my experience with Meta, we know 2 things:
ONE
While a few groups might get revived…
Most will not even have the opportunity to appeal.
TWO
Yes, I feel bad for these business owners…
But getting banned on platforms for no reason (with no appeal) isn’t news.
Facebook glitch.
Google slap.
Twitter shadowban.
YouTube yellow tag.
Even massive accounts with hundreds of thousands of loyal audiences… can lose all the “attention” overnight.
This is why it’s so important to “pick where you build your business.”
This is also why I prefer email marketing.
You control the asset.
Even if Klaviyo hates you… you can still take your list and import it into another ESP.
(yes, it’s a hassle, but there’s a way to do this without falling into spam)
While there are “deliverability rules” in email marketing, too.
They have been surprisingly predictable for decades.
Not to mention that all deliverability penalties are fixable.
If you no longer want to live under the fear… and dictatorship of social media companies… it’s time to build your own Email Profit Engine.
To be continued…
