are you overpaying Klaviyo?

“We need your help in quickly fixing this.”

This happened right before the launch when I first onboarded this client.

The CEO sent me a screenshot of a Klaviyo Billing showing 113% Profiles monthly usage. This means they will be wasting a few hundred dollars starting the next billing cycle. (and every month moving forward)

Recently, Klaviyo’s been enforcing their new pricing plan:

You are no longer paying for just the email sent.

You will be paying for all Active Profiles in your account.

This is a GOOD thing.

Because this is forcing companies to do what they should have done years ago:

1) Clean your list every month

2) Send emails to your ENTIRE list

(not some silly, tiny segment Klaviyo recommends)

3) Send more emails

(or else you waste the Email Monthly Usage, too)

I find this new Klaviyo movement a win-win situation because:

~ Brands can no longer hoard email lists without cost

~ This forces them to UTILIZE the list

~ So email storytellers (like me) can stand out

~ And the brand will make more sales in return

PS – I’ll consider doing another newsletter in the future on list hygiene (aka The tech of email marketing) but for now…

Go to your billing dashboard to make sure you are not overpaying Klaviyo.

PPS – Another reason this new pricing plan is good is that it forces everyone to “clean their list” inside their Klaviyo account, which can positively impact the IP reputation.
