819% email revenue increase – lesson #1

Last week, I did a quick performance review with one of my clients.

I discovered:

I increased their email revenue by 819% compared to last year.

Interesting…

So, it might be helpful for you if I do a quick 3 lesson-learned series.

(and it’s easy for me to write since I’m still on the road)

LESSON 1

Always send ONE more reminder.

It puzzles me.

Most brands promote their product with such ego.

They would spend months creating the product, weeks working out the logistics, and days training their support team…

BUT

When it comes to marketing –

They would send ONE email and assume everyone would pay attention.

Come on

Even DTJ knows you have to bombard the media with a gazillion tweets to dominate the dinner conversation. (and he has free publicity on almost everything he says)

I get it.

You’re afraid to send too many emails because it can “annoy” people.

However…

I’m not talking about sending a reminder every 15 minutes.

(although I’ve seen a brilliant copywriter pull it off)

I’m talking about just one more email on the deadline day.

You’ll be amazed by the effect.

To give you an example:

When I helped my client run a 3-day flash sale…

That one [4-Hour Left] reminder email pulled in 31.4% of the total revenue.

That’s a lot to leave on the table.

Continuing tomorrow…
